    Suggestions please.

    I have just returned from the ESM at Crieff, plus a bit of Highlands Exploring, in a manual/od Stag that I have owned for 23+ years, which is not modified in any way. The total recorded mileage for the trip was 1862. I carefully recorded my fuel purchases, and have verified them on my credit card statement. I used 255 litres/56 gallons, which, by my calculator, equates to 33.2 mpg. And I used E10 fuel throughout..
    As the previous 22 years averaged around 25-27 mpg, I would welcome suggestions for this sudden large reduction in fuel consumption. I gather one or to other cars on the event were also getting improved economy.
    Is it the clean air up there?

    I can't explain it Mike, except to suggest it must have been down hill most of the way ..

      A little known fact is that E10 is actually better than E5

        I always get better Petrol MPG when using Super.... which is what we used to call E10

        So I guess by that logic 5 star is E5 #clown

          Apparently E102 (tartrazine) E104 (quinoline yellow) E110 (sunset yellow FCF) E122 (carmoisine)​ are linked to hyperactivity, so shoud we put certain soft drink in the tank?

              When you say not modified in any way Mike, I thought you had non standard ignition and a header tank? Small mods but still mods.
              I only do what the voices in my wife’s head tell me to do!

                It’s an age thing, Jeff. He probably has a stainless exhaust system too, but has forgotten all about it because it doesn’t need changing very often….

                  Lingen I will be honest in saying that had you posted this in prior years the SWFC would have been all over you like the woke against a middle aged white bloke at a town council meeting. You would have been hung out and dried before you realised what you said wrong.

                  TSSC, as I now refer to the collective of know it all Bar room bores, will not add to the destruction of the 2nd most amazing car made by BL in the 1970s

                  I agree 100% that expensive add on non standard parts are NOT mandatory


                  Edited to add my little dig at TSSC relates to an article published under the name of Ben Carney in the TSSC magazine. The rest of the club I am sure is absolutely fabulous. Ben dropped a bollock with his article and did the poor old stag no favours.

                    Er, I’m afraid you are misinformed. Stag is the most amazing car made by BL in the 1970s, tops Range Rover by several thousand feet. I have had a few ‘70s Range Rovers, sold them all, I’ll keep my Stag until I can’t drive it anymore.

                        Sorry but you need both, a Stag can't (legally) tow a 3.5 tonne trailer, totally different vehicles, both brilliant in their own way, horses for courses
                        White TV8 BW35 no mods and now a Dolly Sprint to keep it company

                            Once broke a differential on the M6 (don’t ask) and had to hitch a lift home to fetch the Range Rover and trailer……

                              E10 in Scotland has a special additive, whiskey. So when u breakdown there is always something to drink.
