ID Plates painted over.

Evening All

The two long thin ID plates on the front LHS plate by the bonnet hinges have been painted over.

Are they stamped or printed, as I would like to clean with paint remover but don't want to remove the info underneath?

Help please before I erase my history.

stamped, one should be painted over, one not. Someone will be along that knows which is which. One is the body number ISTR.

According to page 93 of James Taylor's "Original Triumph Stag", the unpainted one ( with a "T" prefix) commonly goes next to the l/h bonnet hinge. But sometimes the positions are reversed.
Mine is "Common".

lots of stag have no tags, may be they have something to hide ?

Would buy one that had NO tags?

Lots of cars have had the front panel replaced, many done years ago ( as mine had) the tags were not changed over as there are no holes in my front panel where they should be. It would be a different case if the tags had obviously been removed.

The painted one was the body number as built in sequence at Speke. The unpainted one should be reference to sales number.

Left ahand side (LHS)? Is that LHS from the drivers seat? Mine ( ID plates ) are on the RHS from the drivers seat,
