    Unexpected benefit of valve adjustment/shimming

    to remove some tapping i made a full re shim setting clearance at 0,20 and 0,40 mm nearly spot on for all. more work that planned when chain tensioner released (next time i will firmly tighten cam sprocket nut on holder)


    result ok tapping gone - but i were surprised to see that engine vibration felt slightly before is nearly removed and no vibration feeling is felt in foot on slight clutch depressing.

    Maybe a valve timing correction / improvement was made during this work?

      Only shims were changed - i were surprised it improves notably on vibration. 10 clearances were ok and 6 had shims changed. Largest clearance were on cylinder 6 inlet that were 0,55 mm.

          i did reset the tensioner after the book - ok could it have been in a too tight click before maybe ? could that cause vibrations ?

            Certainly can affect timing but more usual to when it’s loose. Tends to oscillate, rather like wandering ignition timing
