hi chaps, can anyone tell me where i can get the rubber seat bottoms that are under the actual seats, ive tried rimmers but they havent any. any suggestionsas i need them asap.
Be prepared to curse, swear & pull a few arm musles if the diaphrams on a Stag are as difficult to fit as the one's on the Triumph 2000 Mk2 I did not so long ago.
All was OK until the last few clips which took a lot of effort to get into the frame.
Let us know what sort of service and quality of parts you get from Aldridge as they seem like a good company?
Make sure you get new clips with the new diaphragm. In my experience the old clips might be too small to enable you to fit a new diaphragm - what with it being very new rubber and VERY stiff. (There must be a joke there).
The clips that you can buy now seem to be longer, thankfully, than the old ones.
As Stuart says, you will curse and you will bleed.......though I believe there is a special tool that makes this job easier. Maybe someone can lend you one.
Totally agree with Stuart and Ray. Stretching the diaphragm and fitting the clips is a seriously awkward job and not for one person Unless youmake some kind of pulling rig.
You need one hand to hold the base frame in place, even though you thought it was securely wedged. With the second onestretch the diaphragm. Put a clip in place and pull the whole thing with a piece of stout cord. Thats when you realise its a two hand pull. You can then use the third hand to slip the clip in place, except it doesn't want to go there and again becomes a two hand job. So you tie off the end of the string to keep everything under tension and seconds later thank your lucky stars that the base missed both you andthe car. Fortunately that's when my son arrived. We found that it took all four hands. Quite straightforward but required a huge amount of exertion.
I have just done both of mine and it wasn't that difficult, I did get new clips with the diaphragms, I used a screwdriver and a pair of pliers and got them on in about 10-15 minutes, it's much better than the sagging, bach acher that it was before!

Dave
hi dave, did they come with the diaphrams? r did you have to ask for them seperately
I asked for the hooks just to make sure! They were longer than the old ones, I tried one with the old hooks and it would have ripped the rubber after a while it would have beenfar too tight. I got mine from South East Trimmings who advertise in the SOC mag, he was helpful and good value, £16 each inc hooks I think.
