Soft top fitting photos

Hi All,

Looking to have soft top replaced and frame. I have heard really good things about Jim at South East Trimming.

Can I just ask, does anyone know if he makes his own soft tops or whether he fits the Aldridge ones? I ask as I have an original one fitted which has the thicker rear window material and I have seen others fitted by some trimmers and they look thinner and in some cases, they have ripples in the plastic when fitted. Some even look like a sheet of cling film LOL.

I have heard really good things about Jim but as you can all appreciate, its good to look into these things first as they are a big feature of the car.

If anyone who has had one fitted by Jim could kindly take any photos of the back of the soft top, it would be really appreciated as I am also interested to see how much material over lap there is on the bodywork too.

Dont know about the thickness of rear window ,but he does use a thicker zip,and he dos make his soft top from a pattern ive seen him do it

Hi Andrew,

I had mine hood fitted with a reconditioned frame by Jim about 5 Years ago, it was about 5 - 6 weeks after I spoke to him and ordered it before it was ready, drove down from Rochdale, arrived just before lunch left about 2 hours later with the new roof and frame fitted no issues with it, the zip is good quality and with tabs on the inside and outside, still happy with it.

Anyone had their roof done by Aldridge Trimming?

I have. Don't . They decided to to modify the line of the hood. Now looks ridiculous. Rear window low quality plastic. Catches badly fitted ,resulting in hood being trapped behind back seats, Damage to new hood resulted in pulling it out. Should have taken it back but couldn't be bothered with all the running around. and arrogance of staff. I don't think they respect Stags, As the chap said when I collected mine "I hate these F..... roofs,".
