Contact Peter, the club registrar, details in the mag, or google he will tell you what you want to know, and how early or late your stag is

      Frode,
      Welcome to Stag ownership.
The link below gives some information on the numbers.
      https://rimmerbros.com/content--name...le-Information

LE1539 would suggest a US specification car built in 1971.
Under the bonnet the numbers are the body number - T1658 LD, this tag isn't often painted as it went on after paint either before leaving the Speke factory or on arrival at Canley. The other number, 1960 LD is the sales number put on in Speke before painting, so this is usually overpainted. Given that the numbers are in the range 1539 to 1658 it would seem reasonable that your car is from 1971 is is around the 1600th Stag built.
My car is LD334 from October 1970, it doesn't have the under bonnet tags, but does have the holes for them. I have the body number from the heritage certificate so will put tags on. You can get a certificate from the British Motor Heritage Trust in Gaydon, this gives the build date and registration date plus other details, price is around £25 I think.

I beliv tha car came from the US allso.
It was registered here in Norway in 2005.
Bought from an american who took it with him to the UK. According to the first owner here.

I'd second a Heritage Certificate - body / commission plates on the B Posts are easy enough to replace (you can order them blank, stencil stamp them and then rivet on).

I've seen more than one car which when checking the paint / trim codes was wearing number plates and commission tags that couldn't possible be accurate (i.e. the colour paint was simply not used in that year).

The certificate is more like £40-50 now though !

You have got the body and sales numbers around the wrong way. The 000LD painted number was put on at Speke on bare body shell before painting and trimming. They were in numeric body build order. The unpainted plate was put on after painting and is the sales number. Dave.

Yep, already £39 + postage in 2011, now £43, so pretty low inflation.

                  well worth it though!

                  The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

Yes. Can confirm price is £43. I just got one for mine. It has shown that my car is as it left the factory and is running the original engine. Hopefully you can find the details for your car the same.
