    HT lead clips

    Hi all,

Does anyone know whether you can get the original style HT ignition lead clips (the two and four cable ones) that fit 8mm leads? I’m considering upgrading to magnecor for various reasons but would like to try to keep to the original look if possible.

I’ve searched for an answer to this in the forum and found lots about the leads, but nothing about these clips (if they exist!).

Any experience, thoughts or knowledge around this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tariq

    Hi

I fit Magnecor KV85 leads with the original 2 and 4 lead clips without any issue. They are not too tight but hold the leads nicely, even though the KV85 are 8.5mm.

The Magencors also come with their own clips to tidy the leads away from the block as well.

    Pictures attached!

    Jeff

      Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the reply, the info and the pictures. I was a little concerned about the clips pinching the internals but it does look an ok fit.

      Much appreciated!

My pleasure - enjoy the Magnecors, literally fit and forget. They are outstanding products.

My blue Magnecor's came with 2 & 4 lead cable clips.

Thanks for the info Dave. Looks like I will be investing in a set once I work out if the 8mm will give enough insulation to try eliminate some lovely radio interference or whether worth a punt on the 8.5mm. Thanks again!

Those are the ones I showed in my first photo - I was (and thought Tariq was too) referring to the traditional ones that attach to the cam covers.

                Hi Tariq

I can tell you the 8.5 ones I have completely eliminated my radio noise. I had tried the biggest noise suppressors I could find but they didn't work at all. When I switched to the new leads all was quiet. I don't have any noise suppressors on my radio now.

                  Hi Jeff,

I was indeed referring to the traditional clips that you had understood. I figured (possibly wrongly!) that if the 8.5mm fitted them, then the 8mm will too.

Good to hear the 8.5mm fixed your radio noise. When I recommissioned my car a few years back I decided the remove the old 8-track that had been installed when we first brought it - and had in its history never given any problems! Since then I've not found a way to remove the interference on the new unit. I'm just about the replace a Powerspark unit with a Pertronix one so figured I'd bite the bullet and get some Magnecors to see if it fixes the interference.

Thanks again for sharing your experience of them!
