    Seat refurbishment

I have a Mk2 Stag with disintegrating front seat foams and tatty covers which I want to get refurbished. I live in Warrington & would like to get the work done reasonably local to me, could someone point me in the direction of a decent trimmer.

    Thanks in advance.

Great guide, but my mk2 1976 seats have the 1 piece foams so check what you need before you order new parts

Mines a 76 too so the back rest may also have one piece foams? Didn't realise there was a difference on the later cars

I have done both mk1 and mk2 seats. I remember doing the mk1s over Christmas about 4 years ago. A long job, but you can only take so much Christmas TV

I did my seats and bought foam in pieces. I bought from from two good suppliers but would go with Aldridge, and pay the extra, if I have to do it again.

The absolute worst thing is those socks on the seat back, on my next seat I’m going to consider leaving the originals on, as long as I can clean them up OK. After all they are barely visible. The rest is just time consuming.. I found that the bottom of the side bolsters is a problem as well, the material does not really sit there securely, It needs to be glued. Next time I glue the foam down before I fit covers, also don’t tighten the flaps, especially the horizontal strips to allow the cover to move down enough to get the bottom of the side bolsters into position.

As I said not my favourite job, but the next one should go better.

Seat foams Are a bit of a fight but Windscreen trim takes a bit of patience! No good fighting it!

Thanks for all the comments, it looks like Aldridge is the best bet. I think I will have a go at doing it myself and see how I get on.
