New HT leads stopped similar interference for me even though the previous ones from a Stag parts supplier were only 18 months old. 3 of them were showing a very high resistance with a multimeter.

I want to say a Massive thank you to Mallard Stag for all patience and help he has shown me.

As is probably evident car electics is not my strong point and Mallard didnt abandon me in my sea of questions and anomolies.
He really is a top bloke and a credit to the SOC and forum,

        SPEAKER CRACKLE SOLVED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NUMBER 5 HT LEAD THE CULPRIT.

This is extremely annoying as they were purchased from one of the more respected Stag suppliers
(not the brothers or Padlocks an idependant seller of parts) and had done a grand total of 7,000 miles, the is why I left them till last, big mistake. after dissembling half the car and just about checking every elec componet.

So thanks again to all contributors and especially Mallard,..........what a Gent

Glad you got it sorted in the end. The most useful thing on this forum is when people come back and tell us all how they eventually fixed the problem. Many don't.

Great to hear (see what I did there) that it’s all fixed. I forgot to mention that the reason I splurged on the Magnecor leads is because I went through 3 sets of the standard green leads in 3 years with few miles on them, just like Nigele above. The surprising and welcome side effect was the radio noise was eliminated.

I ended up fitting a cheap set of Rover V8 ht leads from eBay which cost around £8 at the time, and 4 years later they are still working perfectly. They fit reasonably well although the ones on cylinders 2 and 4 are slightly too short to fit in the double clip on the cam cover.

I don't regret buying them at all and I have read of many other members on here saying they have had them for years and years without issue. Outstanding product.

I bought mine from DC Performance: https://www.dcperformance.co.uk/upra...umph/stag.html

I see they are on sale too so lucky you!

I’ve got LDParts green leads fitted and don’t have any interference on the radio, but if I use the Bluetooth hands free phone facility, the person the other end can hear severe interference (from the engine, not me ). There is none from the speakers my end. I’ve reduced the interference slightly by adding an inline resistor to the ‘king’ lead, but not eliminated it. It does mean that if the call is important (rarely), I can look for a safe space to stop and call back.

I see that Magnecor leads are available for the Stag in 7.0, 8.0 and 8.5mm diameters. Is there any reason not to use the 7.0mm ones?

I fitted the KV-85's on the advice of Magnecor as they were only marginally more but were the best they made. I was tired of changing the green leads and having to diagnose 3000rpm misfires.

The site I used says the same (albeit a bit more sales=ee):

Why should I fit these Magnecor KV85 Ignition Leads on my Triumph Stag

Magnecor KV85 ignition leads are the best road HT leads that Magnecor make. Their quality is fantastic and ensure long life and worry free ignition performance. These KV85 are only marginally more expensive than the thinner Magnecor 8mm leads, so why not go the whole hog, and get the best.

Magnecors ordered from DC Performance: ,am fed up with rubbish no name parts, the green repro leads are a waste of time and money, they managed 7,000 miles what a joke. The wifes toyota 100,000 original coil packs and leads, why do we put up with this rubbish, takes alot of joy out of classic ownership

the Mags 10 yr warranty inspires me with more confidence

                            Thank you for the recommendation
                            regards

                              Hi M

7000 miles? I got less than 1000 on each set of green ones! Either way, unacceptable and wasteful.

Enjoy the Magnecors - literally fit and forget. I know I do!
