Maybe fuel pump or arcing in the inertia switch. Also voltage regulator contacts arcing every few seconds

I had previously tried everything to track down the crackling, even changing the voltage stabiliser for a solid state one. I guess a clue was that I still had the crackling when I had my phone plugged in and was listening to my own stuff, so it wasn't an interference of the signal.
Hope you find the cause as it is most frustrating, especially after you think you have sorted all the other problems.

try the HTC leads, but we had to fit an earth wire from the bonnet to the body on some mk2 escorts as they were causing a problem, worth a try if all else fails

Not replaced those as they only done about 7k miles and where from LD parts,so have assumed ok but may have to try that, although the crackle doesnt increase with revs

speaker crackle
HI,
Im still trying to source the cause of my annoying speaker crackle, only when engine running ,perfect when not
So far I have illiminated
Fuel pump
Alternator
Ariel and earth
visuall check of wiring
Added extra earth to head unit,
Auto elec ,who wired battery perm input (yellow out) to fuse box to illiminate dirty feed.,didnt work
Interference suppressor kindly supplied by froum member
My last stop is trying to illiminate the tacho as a source as this has the Spyda conversion for the Mk1 tach .with signal feed from
My question:
will the car run if I disconnect the feeds(white female -male bullets? because on the original MK1 config .if you disconnected leads I think the green it will not run.
the idea being if its the Spyda module causing the crackle if its disconnected should stop the problem.
TIA
Mark
