Went out for a paper to the shops about 600 yds car just stopped complete cut-out, engine will turn but no sign of starting, after a moment I twiddled with the distributor and the coil went back and it fired uo, I went home, this AM did the same and the car packed up in almost exactly the same spot, did identical twiddling and it fired up again, very strange of course I have no real conviction that the "twiddling" has actually helped, bit worried about trusting the car now as it is my only transport, I would have guessed that it was actually fuel as it died in almost exactly the same place, like its using a carburettor full of fuel, so I'mthinking the fuel pump..but why does it restart after 5 minutes or so?

The Lumenition rectangular 3 pin plug is notorious for poor connections leading to failure if this is the type of ignition. Close up the female sockets and this will often fix itNeil
