Put a new steering rack on the Stag today and thought i would change the power steering pipes as well as they were showing signs of perishing. So brought a pair from a very well know supplier a few weeks ago. Went to fit them and what a job, On both pipes the angles of the bends did not match up with the originals might only be out a couple of mill but very hard to fit. Why is it when suppliers advertise things as a perfect fit they don't. Sometimes its a pain trying to fit these things. As we all know these things aren't cheep. Anybody else had these problems? or is it just me?

Definitely not just you - I tried a set from Robsport and another from Tony Hart - neither matches the originals - I could get then to fit but had a leak from the HP rack union. I refitted the originals - no leak! Really don’t understand why when there is an original to copy we can’t get parts that match!

Well, we all moan about Triumph's quality control. Perhaps they are trying to 'maintain originality'? To be serious though, I think Triumph's quality control was good on things that were directly measurable, such as machining dimensions and tolerances. The weakness was on things that needed an opinion, such as the core sand in the block. So, for the sort of things that have been discussed on here, there is no excuse,'72 Manual O/d Saffron Yellow

Sorry for any confusion, I didn’t buy any of mine from Robsport. I only bought pipes from the Brothers, TH and SOC Spares.
The parts I have bought from Robsport have always been good quality.

Last year I decided to fit Tony harts silencers. Then decided that the down pipes needed to be swapped for 302 grade, which were only available in stock at rimmers.
the fit was the same as ever.....so much for continuous improvement .There are 2 secrets to staying on top :- 1. Don't give everything away.
