cv joint pro shaft from rimmers

I bought a cv joint prop shaft from Rimmers. On arrival the rubber boot at the sliding yoke end split. They sent me a new one and since I'm in the US, they said keep the old one. Unlike a normal shaft with the boot on the outside, this one has a boot on the inside. I'd like to salvage the shaft and am wondering if anyone has used this type of shaft has changed the boot and if so how?

Here is a photo. I took two OEM shafts to a local USA shop and they said the splines were worn on both. The shop said they could make me a custom one for 500$. The CV version is less than 200 quid.

Have a look on Amazon or fleabay or Google search examples on YouTube for a bailcast c.v. Bootkit these are universal split kits

I fitted the new unit. the problem is the flange sits very close to the body. of the tube. a typical boot is about 2 inches in length. I would say I have less than 1 inch room.

I looked at bailcast. the step down on diameter of the boot seems about 2 inches I need something from about 3.5 inches down to 1. within a length of an inch.
