I was just driving my LHD Stag now and Searched the forum to see if there was a solution to the long throw, especially to reach 3d. I dont want to shorten the gearstick.

I did not think about this when I had the gearbox out, sadly. Had a look at some pictures on the net, does not look as easy as some other Cars with remote linkages. It’s not my number one piority either but that long sideways throw to 3d is a bit strange!

The original was only as long as it was because it came from a Ferguson tractor

I like the height of the gearlever, It is ideal compared to the height of the steering Wheel. I feel however this gearlever has a much longer throw than for instance my Spitfire. It is no big deal really, and I guess the majority of the Owners are happy because 3d and 4th are far towards them.

Haha, I am Sorry for not catching that!

Is there something to it though? The 4-Cylinder TR engines share a lot with Ferguson I have heard. Is there a different gearbox in TR2-4?

That was it … some of the brackets are slightly agricultural in approach / appearance

Personally I think the Stag gear lever just looks out of place. It looks too large and cumbersome, and as aptly quipped ....tractor like.

I would have thought some company would have made shorter or more aesthetic ones to cash in on the lucrative Stag parts market.

This is the first time I have heard someone criticising the length of the Stag manual gear-lever in over 32 years of Stag ownership, so probably not such a huge market.
