Alternative Wiper motor?

Just pulled out my Wiper motor because it runs incredibly slow or not at all. Wheelboxes OK and rack moves freely but it looks as if the armature is cooked and the brushes are worn right down.
The Lucas 16W wiper motor has long been unavailable but there are plenty of new 14W motors. I know the brush assembly is different and the gear wheel has on the Stag gives a different sweep to the 14W but physically the case and mounting look very similar.
Question is - Is it possible to fit a 14W motor and swop the gear wheel over from a 16W to get the correct sweep?

I think someone did this recently.

FWIW, the Stag wiper motor was also used for the rear window of the Reliant Scimitar. I was lucky to spot one on an auto jumble stand at a local show a couple of years ago for very little money.........

Have done a bit more research and there is a difference which prevents a straight gearwheel swop. The Stag's 16W has a park switch actuated by a Stainless tab on the rack moving a plastic actuator. The 14W has the actuator mounted on the underside of the gearwheel and the switch 'behind' the gearwheel so a simple swop over would not work. However you can buy a 130 deg sweep gearwheel from Car builder solutions. Also studying pictures of the 2 types of gearwheel it looks like I could remove the steel disc with the crankpin fitted, it's only the offset of the crankpin that determines the sweep angle, and fit it to the gearwheel supplied with the new motor. They both appear to have the same electrical socket. The 14W is still made and can be bought at quite a reasonable cost. - Alan

I searched Wiper Motor and found it a few posts down the result list. Having said that, I find the search facility very frustrating and don't use it very often.

They are available as reconditioned from Paddock etc. I ordered and received one from Paddock about 3 weeks back. They cost, but then you have the right motor, and it looks for all purposes, new.

It came without the gear but I used the gear from my old unit no problem. They are not always in stock, but my old one will be going back to paddock (exchange) so no doubt one will be back in stock soon. My old one worked fine, but had no Parking block
