She starts from cold and revs well. Then almost stops once warm.

As the title says, ticks over nicely until gauge rises to normal, then begins to hunt as if running out of fuel, will stay running just, with rev counter not registering, will not pick up on the throttle.
She has brand new carbs & electronic ignition inc leads and plugs.Filter looks clean. Just fitted new fuel pump today , no difference. by passed the silly vibration cut out thingy, no difference, disconnected fuel lines and pumps like a good one. Leave to cool down overnight starts first pull in the morning, drives well until up to temp and then same again. Any ideas ?

    Thanks

Forgot to say, opened fuel cap thinking not getting any air, no difference.

My first thought would be the new carbs are set up far too rich hence the reason it struggles as it warms up.
What colour are the plugs, if they are black this would point to the mixture.

Thanks, will have a look at the plugs in the morning. Bought from a reputable dealer, having said that I test drove it with the old carbs and not with the new, I have only done about 50 miles since purchase, but on short runs, it did seem fine thou..
How do you lean them off ?

Have a look in the Technical Section https://www.socforum.com/forum/forum...el-and-exhaust . You'll need to get the special tool https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-S...MAAOxy79VReN4S , also available from other Stag parts specialists (Paddocks, Robsport, Rimmers).

            Roger..
The carbs can't be expected to be set correctly "Out of the box". .They will have been given basic settings, and then you will have to get them set up accurately to suit your engine, and balance them. For this you will need the needle adjusting tool, and a CO meter to measure the emissions. Or, if this doesn't sound rude, someone who "Knows his Strombergs".

No mechanic but that sounds similar to a problem I had. I bought some fuel line clips and nipped up all the join points instead of just push fits. Seems it was sucking in air. Anyway, it solved the problem.

                  ^this.

If, after trying the carb adjustment, it still does it, then move the coil out of it's normal bracket and tie it, well, anywhere away from the heat source that is the engine block and inlet manifold, and see what happens. I went through 3 new coils until I got one that was happy to spark when hot.

                    Hi all

Thanks for your replies, I didn't think it was going to be the carbs, I was leaning towards the coil if not that, then the electronic dizzy, as this was the last thing to be fitted I was thinking a faulty module although the dizzy is a new Stag Weber item..
So having no replacement coil to try, thought I would take a look in the dizzy. I found that the red pick up module was not set equal all round to the black plastic centre drive I had 2 mm at one end and almost touching at the other. My theory, starts ok from cold as soon as engine warms up gap closes completely and the problem shows, you could see witness marks on the module. So adjust on the plate screws I here you say, but hardly any movement available ( badly fitted at the factory! )
So I removed the module from the mounting plate and then removed the plate. I had to elongate the screw holes considerably on the mounting plate in order to centralise on the drive and get the required 1 mm equal all around
Re fitted, started her up and problem gone. I guess I should have looked at that at the outset, but has it was new and professionally fitted I had almost discounted it as a potential problem.

                    Just goes to show.

                    Thanks again

Did you report your findings back to the supplier?? Feedback is always important and may prevent someone else having the same issue.

                        Hi

Was thinking I should, as do not want to complain about Stag Weber, but it shouldn't have been sent out to my supplier as it was. See photo as i found it. I guess there was a minute amount of adjustment to increase the almost touching side, but none in order to centralise it.mine must have slipped as it worked for approx 100 miles before the issue showed itself. the pick up had witness marks on the right as picture indicating it had come into contact with the drive. There was no way I could decrease the considerable gap to the left of the pick up with the adjustment screws.

Well done for spotting it, does seem that someone further up the supply chain has dropped the ball. Someone not as observant as you would be pulling their hair out by now.
