Hood video

Ok, bare with me.... pretty new to all of this...I’ve read all / most on the forum about folding hood up / down etc been ok ish so far but struggled today....is there a more conclusive video anywhere other than this one... http://youtu.be/WyKoRddKcDE
as I can’t find one anywhere .....and i’ve read and read again the official soft top operation

some people shut the back of the hood down and then push down on the top of the screen fixings and then close the handles, not the way it says but works for me and I have seen others do it this way

That's also the way I do it.

I've seen this video before and it said he was going to post one of him putting the hood down, which is a trickier affair and must be done more carefully to avoid any damage to either the frame or soft top material.

As with Phil and Steve I also find it much better to open the front catches first before lowering the hood because my hood is so taut that I cannot release the rear catch when the hood is under tension. When closing the hood I click the rear catch in first and then fasten the windscreen catches last, which is actually the opposite of the instructions on the sun visor. I also prefer to zip out the rear screen before folding the hood down which means there's less chance of it being creased up inside the hood stowage area

and a draught screen fitted, and in a rush because it's just started tipping down

I use lip salve on the rear window zip and it works well especially on the difficult bits, the corners.

I find that if I put the hood up always when in the garage, and over winter then the hood keeps its size and is far easier to put up /down.

Iv'e done that this year Alan and found the hood as settled into a better shape, have had a dehumidifier running intermittently over winter and the interior feels nice and cosey

I find it works for me to bring the car out of the garage and leave it in the sun for half an hour before dropping the hood. The sun warms everything up and makes it more pliable and there's less risk of doing anything to the rear window

Chris Spain regularly emphasises the importance of keeping all the hinges and pivots lubricated. I've done it and it makes a huge difference.

We've seen quite a bit in the last few days. I've been busy in the garden, weeding, planting spuds and washing down the greenhouse as well as car cleaning. I'm not allowed to drive the car so have been working up a thirst instead.
