    Fitting T bar

Hi Guys, I tried searching for T bar and message comes up 'Too Restrictive' and when I add 'Fitting' that's all it finds.
Anyhow, I am refitting the T bar after a respray, I have got the bolt and 4 small screws located, at the front end, but I can't get the bolts to line up with the threads in the top of the B post.

I have jacked up the centre of one the sills in the hope that there will be a bit of sag that would help lining up, but still not getting there, less than a 1/4 inch out.

Anybody out there who can tell me how they fitted their T bar

    Cheers

Mine needed the top of the B post to move outwards a few mm used a jack at bottom of B post pushing a metre or so of timber diagonally across to top of other B post.

Thanks for such a quick response. I think I will use same principle but from bottom of front door opening to top/front of B post, I might have to get a bottle jack, but will try scissor jack first.

I used a quick clamp to pull mine that sort of distance on the last bolt

I used a ratchet strap looped around the B-post and my waist. Skilful leaning & manoeuvring of my beer-toned 16 stone physique allowed me to align each of the bolt holes without the loss of blood or skin.

I knew a plan would come together, thanks guys. I particularly like the rachet strap suggestion and I have the perfect friend in mind to apply the skillful application of body weight whilst I pop the bolt into place!

I'll let you know how it goes

My Tbar refitted with no problem.

As a slight aside, which side should the Zip be if the cover is replaced?

                  Hi,

The zip was originally on the driver's side of the cover, so that's how I fitted the replacement. The sleeves were a good snug fit on the main cross arms, but the cover was a loose fit on the front to back section, I used several lengths of corn/bunion sponge tubing glued to one side of the replacement foam and achieved a snug, wrinkle free cover. I fitted the zip on passenger side, same as yours the zip side is looser and consequently has wrinkles. I figured that at B post one side has the wiring, other side has zip end , if both together on driver side would be too much to hide,.
I will have to unzip and pad out as you have done.

When I refitted my t-bar I jacked it under the front outriggers, bolts lined up easily

                        Hi Richard

Did you jack under front outriggers on both sides at the same time?

                        Cheers

one side at the time and lined up the bolt on that side. then moved across. They are both maybe 10mm out. once located no issues

Thanks Richard, between doing that and the rachet strap, problem solved. I had plans to do it today, but a very unwell dog and trips to the vet came first. I will post results next week.

I found a hour this morning and with a trolley jack under the front outrigger on the left side with a bit of a wiggle the bolt did indeed drop in. I only partially tightened it allowing a bit of movement of the T bar on the driver's side. Again trolley jack and the rachet strap and I was able to bolt it up.
Thanks Guys, what would we do without the forum.
