Nearly finished after my bike fell on the car.

I have owned the car since October 5th 2019 and the last 5 weeks it’s been back at the dealers having the oil leaks sorted and the damage repaired after my bike fell on it.
Can’t wait to get the car home.
Had the damaged door handle replaced wit a SOC new plastic handle. Looks amazing, but they did say it was a night mare to fit and took them 4 hours. I have the other side to do in the spring so any tips welcome.

Hi Simon. Interested in your feedback about the new handle. Can you ask them what causes them the problems fitting the handle? Did they use the thinner gasket as a buildup of paint oils cause difficulty if not. Glad to see you’ll be back in the stag soon. Paul

I fitted the new SOCTL door handles a couple of months ago and posted a couple of tips to which I would possibly add ensure soothing music is playing and partake of a couple of glasses of red wine before starting.

I'm not one for adding bling but the door bowls were letting the car down and the, long trailed, SOCTFL door bowls are now available. Firstly they only appear to be on sale from Wards at the moment and they will give SOC members a 25% discount on these items. Their online shop will not automatically apply the discount so you

Hi Paul yes I will try and find what the main issue was , pretty sure they used the gaskets that came with the handle. Would good for me to know as I will give the drivers side a go in the spring. They say it looked great once fitted and certainly hard to tell from the original metal handle.

Thanks Simon. I fitted both of mine a couple of weeks ago and it probably took me about an hour-some of which was searching for the 5.5mm socketI had to be firm snapping it over the door skin but nothing more than that really. I wonder if they struggled with swapping the handle over from the old handle. Be good to know.

            Cheers

More feedback, the handles were easy to fit, took about an hour for both sides and look great, a success as ever for SOCTFL thank you.

Car back in my garage. Really pleased with the work must praise Sherwood restorations for such a fantastic job and for all the daily photos.
i did ask them about the problems they had with the new door handle, apparently removing the old parts and transferring them to the new handle was where the time was taken. He said if we did the other side it would have been much quicker.
the new door handle looks great and well worth the money.
A few pics of the car getting a final polish in my garage ready for bicester scramble.
