    Terry,

I have found this image of a TKC101 online. You can just make out the lettering.

Cheers Dave, just hope it is not too long before the replacement arrives.
The decorations I helped put up in Reception yesterday and today around the Pool are all looking good - just hope I can be as successful in fixing the Stag.

Lots of Bank Holidays in December here in Tenerife could slow the post down, Dec 6th & 8th are both National Holidays then Xmas Day and New Years Day, but not Boxing Day which is not recognised here. You never know it might arrive on my Birthday in 9 days time which would be a really nice Birthday Present.

PS; Whilst the grill is off I have ordered a couple of badges to put on it from "Royal Enamel" - a "Stag owners badge" and a "red rose Lancashire badge" as that is where I was born and brought up. Better not put on a Tenerife badge as it is exactly the same as the badge of Scotland!.
Am also going to clean up and respay the Fan and Fan Guard which are both extremely dirty.

          Hi Terry
Your luck with Stag has to change soon for heavens sake, if not now!.

Although you are not getting much pleasure from driving it i sense you are deriving some satisfaction and pleasure from the jobs you are doing and the fact you are still capable of doing them, keep it up use it or loose it as they say.

Keep posting as i and i think most people on here find what you post both on this thread and a number of others informative, helpful and entertaining, all the best Chris.

Yes, Season 3 got off to an unexpected start - I wasn't expecting Mr. V. Coupling to be appearing.

Hope the new VC arrives soon, so we can get back to the main plot.

I was feeling pretty optimistic when I got the engine to run better a few days ago, with no sign of a top end oil leak during the short time I ran the engine, but then the vc decided to make it's presence known. Never know with the Spanish post how long the replacement vc from Paddocks will take to get here, but it gives me a chance now that I have better access to take a look at where the bottom end oil leak is coming from and try and cure that - Drew I have been using the "Wellseal" sealant that you recommended, and Chris - thanks for your good wishes.

Still waiting for new vc but managed imbetwen time to do a little bit more on the car this afternoon.
Checked the sump bolts and found some of them loose so tightened them, and one bolt is still missing it's top nut, so going to have to find and fit a new one, and I applied some sealant around the gasket area. Will have to wait and see if that cures the oil leak I had around that area.
I also cleaned up and sprayed the fan and fan guard ready for when they get put back.

sump gaskets don't seal across the width of the flange on the sump

                  stag sump.jpg
see the ridge between the bolt holes? that is the bit that pinches the gasket against the bottom of the crank case. If the flange is warped then it will be very difficult to seal. did the most recent work at the garage not include the sump gasket or did I dream that?

To Richard :- No - the only parts I gave the garage when they arrived from Paddocks were the water pump refurb kit and the Inlet Manifold gaskets.
To DJT :- Found the stamped on I.D. on the failed VC - TKC 0101 + E9436E.

PS. No sign of the new VC in todays post & tommorrow (6th Dec) is a Bank Holiday here, and also Dec 8th, but as the 8th is a Sunday they will probably close on Monday the 9th in lieu, and deliveries are restricted on Saturdays, especially as it imbetween the 2 Bank Holidays, so it looks like it will be next week at the earliest that it might arrive. At least I got a repaired hearing aid in today's post which I had sent back to Boots in Llandudno about 3 weeks ago, so I can now hear myself curse better when I am on my back underneath the Stag as I was yesterday.

As I can't do any more on the engine till the new vc arrives I decided to tackle my boot lid which is not straight and not closing properly.
The pics below might also be relevant to the "Boot Lid Alignment" Thread.

Took off the part shown below in order to elongate the holes that control the lid forward and backwards movement on the right hand side.
Put it in a vice ready to drill, then found my drill needs recharging which is what I am presently doing, and after drilling will get my large file out to finish the job.

Should give me just enough extra forward movement to stop the boot lid catching the body at the back on that side.
                      .

It may be a while before I can report on more progress, and afterwards hope soon to take a similar picture to the one below - best wishes to all :-

For once got something fixed just right. This lunchtime had a go at fixing my boot lid after elongating the holes in the bracket that controls forwards & backwards movement.
After putting the bracket back and tightenening up the 4 bolts the boot lid now closes perfectly without catching the bodywork as can be see by the pics posted below.

Next job is fixing the loose sump bolt/nut prior to fitting the new vc when it arrives.
PS. Just remembered I have yet to replace the right hand side "roller" that keeps the lid up when opened - but that is not a difficult job if you know how, as I have done it before.
                          .

I know all about that spring/hinge - have presently got something wedged in it ready for when I put the "existing" roller back having already straightened the piece it attaches to.

Hi Terry, would be interested to see some pics before you start to 'straighten' the offending item. And how you have it 'wedged'. I think that is something I need to do. Thanks Mark
