    Stag exhaust

Ive been driving my brother's stag around a lot latey, and have noticed how hot it is inside the car mainly around the gear stick and hand brake area,I know his centre exhaust boxes don't have heat sheids ,do the heat sheids on the exhaust boxes make much of a difference ? to how hot it is inside the car

    Thanks Dave

    Dave.
The original silencers never had heat shields either. I have found that when the gear lever and/or handbrake start to get hot, it is probably because their rubber gaiters have split/fallen to bits, allowing hot air to pass through them, warming the metal as it goes. The gear lever one is simple enough to change (but probably won't last long!) and the handbrake one will require taking the lever out of the car from inside. And probably the use of a car lift..
I have also put some felt carpet underlay under the gear lever veneered panel, which makes a worthwhile difference, and keeps gearbox noises to a minimum.
    Mike.

This is my stainless exhaust, Note the heat shield fitted to each of the centre silencers that is maybe 1cm above the top.

Never really noticed the temp rise inside the car. Gearstick and handbrake gaiters are OE and very tired.

The metal shaft (fnarr) of my Range Rover auto selector gets too hot to touch during a very long run on a hot day. Open the doors and the heat from under the car pours upwards.

I have noticed a drop in cabin temperature since my ceramic coated headers went on the car, bit extreme for a fix, but also have some heat pads (foam with fibreglass mesh and reflective foil) to go under the carpet when I get round to it
