Not really what I need at the moment.

Still, at least the weather is good enough to be able to start without it, so I was able to test my eyesight after all.

I wouldn't have thought it cold enough for you to have lit your 'under glove box coal fire' modification.

It starts ok without choke at the moment, but after 100m or so I have to pull out into traffic and 30 seconds after starting when it's around 10°C can provide a heart-stopping stall moment!

I got annoyed at a new bonnet release cable from P*dd*cks that failed after 13 months. Bloody rubbish, the part that locks to the bracket is plastic, too small and fragile.

Guess I'll make a new part in metal over the weekend.

Glad I managed to get the bonnet open........

Just before lockdown I purchased 4 of Tony White's refurbished Stag wheels. I then treated myself to 4 new Michelin MXV-P tyres from Pneus Online and some stainless steel wheelnuts from Paddocks. I've just got it all fitted to my car. As well as looking amazing, the ride and handling of my car is now so much better......…….

Collected my car from our local Stag specialist this afternoon. Most of the oil leaks are cured, but there still a couple of obstinate ones to investigate. The new steering box feels much firmer and at least that is now longer leaking. The Strombergs are refurbished and the car is so very much more responsive.
Tomorrow it will be treated to a wash and MGuires 3 coat polish system. Sadly it does not look as though I will be able to take it to the Alps this year. But at least I can use it for shopping trips!

Continuing with the clear out and tidying up my garage in preparation for restarting my Stag's restoration, today I emptied out the boot. I had previously thrown all sorts of parts into the boot which I had stripped off the car years before when it resided in its previous garage which I had to vacate in a hurry.

It's now empty, hoovered out and I can survey the extent of rot by the tin worm. It can be disappointing to see such rust damage but it doesn't deter me and I am still as enthused about resuming the restoration.

Took my Stag for MOT on Friday, passed with no advisories although he did mention a slightly binding rear nearside brake. Horrified to find I’d only covered 500 miles since it’s last MOT, don’t suppose it’ll be much higher this year at the rate we’re going!

Looks like the lower edge of your inner rear valance has rusted

Finished my rear seat base, something that I have been stressing over for a while, lets say I made the best of a bad job.. Hopefully one day someone produces the seat base foam and I can do it again!
Then took my hood frame apart, ooh err! lots of parts, but its not as bad as I feared. Then finally updated my website.. its been a while!

Surprisingly that edge isn’t as bad as I expected. Worst area in boot is the lower O/S inner wing, the boot floor edge and outer wing lower splash area.
i was prepared for this as bought complete new boot floor and lower rear wing repair panels over the years when found them cheap (ish)... Nothing is cheap with the Stag !

I'll be starting a thread on the Restorations section soon with more "before" details & pics etc.

This weekend I rotated the drag strut bolt by 180 degrees. There was a lot of discussion about the correct way the bolt should be just in case the nut falls off. It wasn't an easy task.

Very nice. Years ago , about 30, I saw a blue Dolomite Sprint which as similar design wheels, where the black is on the wheels, they where painted in blue body color. I have wires on my Stag, but if I ever put on the alloys, I have them painted in body color. I'm surprised, I haven't seen a photo of a Stag with body color wheels .
