    Fitting Oil Pressure Gauge

My Smith Oil Pressure Gauge and associated T Peice arrived from Rimmers today.

Plan to replace the clock with this gauge but before I started fitting thought I would ask advice from those in the know. I also plan to fit the original sender for the dash light.

One question, does the clock lamp also fit the smith oil gauges or do I need to replace this also

    All helpful advice welcome.

    Hi Steve

Sorry, no advice to offer but I was thinking of buying a combo oil pressure / water temp or similar and replacing the clock!

The clock lamp is much smaller in diameter and really won't do the job Steve - as to the rest, it's all pretty straightforward, but I would recommend strongly that you use plumbers PTFE tape on all the joints......

Simple? A Stag owner and you have to say that?

On my tag a previous owner has replaced the clock with an oil pressure gauge and I wish he hadn't.I miss a clock and an oil pressure gauge can always be fitted in a pod under the dash. Anyone got a working Stag Mk2 clock for sale?

Hi Steve, have a look at -mgbeehive- I've just ordered a dual guage, with the adaptor for the Stag head, for about £60, MUCH cheaper than anyone else I've looked at, and you can have it in C or F.

John, why not dothe same, then there's no unsightly pod. Martin.

I prefer the idea of a dual gauge rather than remove the clock. If I find a reasonably priced clock I will consider this appraoch. The Gauge Shop have the dual MGB gauge for £30. I have never used them and so don't know if whether they are any good.

The MGB gauge is not going to have the matt black surround of the Stag instruments, but this might not be too hard to do.

Sorry, I have looked again and they are for auction not on Buy it Now. The ebay shop reference to the gauge (they appear to have 3) is http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/the-ga...34Q2ec0Q2em322

Mine is bought so the clock is coming out.

The clock is not holding time properly anyhow so I dont mind if I miss it. I had thought about the dual mode temp and oil but am happy with the single gauge.
For me time is lest of an issue than pressure and temp :-)

                        John,

This was my way of fitting a reliable clock having got an oil pressure gauge where the original useless timekeeping device once resided. Not good if you are still a slave to the weed though. This clock came from a Jaguar (courtesy of ebay), but I have seen the same one in other cars.

Hi John, I've swapped the bezel over from myOE temp guage to the current one, and I expect to do the same again when the dual one arrives, bit fiddly but not difficult. Martin.
