I too had the jittery Tacho, and after writing to the manufacturers (Mobelec), they advised taking the supply from the inertia switch. I actually took it from the appropriate place in the fusebox, as I mounted the electronic unit near the relay plate. This cured the problem.

I have completed about 1,200 miles using a Petronix LU187 and the car has started instantly every time. Where can you buy them from in the UK? I bought mine from the States and had topay about £20 in VAT and postage handling charges. It was still miles cheaper than a Lumenition though and easier to fit.

If you follow this link (kindly provided by Seaside Bill) you will be able to purchase in dollars and have it shipped direct from the UK warehouse. The price you pay is inclusive of all taxes, duties and shipping. It is very clearly explained on their website and Carl, the guy who runs it is an excellent and helpful chap.

Another advantage of using the inertia switch as the supply for electronic ignition is that the engine will cut out immediately the inertia switch activates, such as in an accident.
