that's not easy without a press but no need just remove the six nuts securing shaft hub to trailing arm and remove shaft by sliding out .try to clean splines and keep dust or grit off them on male end and refit with new grease packed but not overly. backplates will fall of after a little stripping .
WARNING when undoing the six nuts some studs may come out with nuts and some may strip threads in T/Arm if your unlucky .these are a notorious design issue on the snag and when they fail at speed the consequences could be disastrous and very injurious to health. if they look iffy or have failed then helicoiling is the the way forward .ive done many and would not miss the opportunity if i were doing this .you could be lucky and find they are already done by a po. the nuts when studs are inserted are torqued up to a very low figure
Beautiful early mk1 white tv8 mod? MGB GT and now looking for another V8
if your wanting to fit the new back plates for brakes, undo the six nuts round the hubs then cut the cable tie round the rubber covering the splines and pull out the rear hub
