Hi Guys,

I'm giving Cyd a thorough servicing! and using the check list in the WM.

The PO had installed EI and I'd like to know what I need to do regarding servicing this area as it's new to me.
Clearly the distributor is not as was originally intended and I don't want to go in and disturb things if it's not required.

Any advice would, as always, be appreciated.

Brian. If the E.I. is an optical one, it would do no harm to occasionally wipe the lamp and sensor clean. Mechanically, a few drops of oil under the rotor arm are all that is necessary to keep the advance/retard system lubricated.

I've got the PowerSpark magnetic type which I never had to do anything to, apart from replace the magnetic sensor last year when it failed after seven years of use.

Steve. I have got one of those as well, and am very pleased with it. I have only had it for four years, so I should have another three by the look of it, and as they are so inexpensive, I have a spare ready just in case.
In the days of points, it was easy enough to remember to lubricate the advance mechanism when checking the gaps, but it is easy to forget to do so now that points are becoming replaced with electronics.
