When they have Returns Fixtures full of fans & other sub-standard products the penny may drop that high quality control is the way to enhance sales to discerning consumers. Things would be even worse without SOCTFL. OK, rant over!
Some time ago I raised the issue of poor quality components http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthr...tical+classics (admittedly I was referring particularly to rubber ones) but was disappointed by the low level of response that it elicited Out of just 18 posts, most were from myself or Joakim, meaning that there just eight responses from anyone else.

    Cheers

I think most returns go back on the shelf and get sold to the next poor punter.

Apologies for this delayed response Julian, unexpected mid-week family funeral in Yorkshire then tail-chasing on return to Norfolk. You created very useful awareness with your previous article & Practical classics spin-offs, well done. This is indeed a wider issue than even Stags. Whilst major suppliers continue to be margin-oriented our spares are likely to be manufactured abroad - cheaply. We can only hope ambassadors for quality e.g. SOCTFL plus media promotion such as you encourage eventually gets the message across.

I am a believer in focussing on what we can do ourselves rather than just frantic arm-waving & cursing. So, like you I aim to take every opportunity to highlight these quality issues. Triumph World will be running an article on my LD112 restoration after completion next year so there is one opportunity for me. I have been paying a scary amount of money to achieve what is in essence a new Stag. That includes many new parts ... what if they all fail in a few years!!
