No experience of the Hardi pump, as I have used SU. If you change to a modern SU, be aware that the recess where the banjo washers fit is deeper. You need to double up on the washers.

and whatever pump you buy watch the pressure it puts out!

Mine was chonking along at 5psi

Anyone confirm what the strommies should be receiving? I thought it was nearer 2psi

I had a hardi pump in mine. It is essentially a copy of the SU. I did the same and cleaned the points. They lasted about 2000 miles, before it packed up again. I was, by that point carrying a spare. I bought the electronic version of the SU and it has been faultless since. It was a straight swap I carried out on the hard shoulder of the m25!

              Regards

              Dave

I wrote this a while back. Decided to go for an electronic SU from Burlen in the end.

The part number equivalent is given as being AZX1307(EN)

                The pressure (cut-off pressure?) is 0,28 - 0,35 bar (= 4.06 - 5.07 psi)

The Stag ROM gives the following:

                SU N° AUF306

                Cut off pressure 2.7 psi

So it definitely seems like the Hardi / Quinton Hazell pump is putting out too much pressure.

The ROM has a simple fuel pump test. At a height of 3 ft. above the pump outlet, it should deliver 140 pints per hour (25 secs to fill a pint bottle)

Anyone know the data for those new fangled electronic SU fuel pumps?
                The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

Thanks boys, think I will get a LD parts one and put this one in the boot as a spare, don't want to repeat what you did on the M25 Dave.

I was very lucky, the traffic was slow and heavy, I had just pulled in from the right hand lane to the left, then I put my foot down and nothing happened! I could very easily have conked out in the right hand lane and caused havoc!
