    Exaust to gearbox attachment?

So I have the right angle bracket attached to my exhaust as picture:-

    Picture 153.jpg

But then thats all I have ever had on this car, I cannot see anything else in the parts manual.
Underneath the very rear of the overdrive are a couple of 5/16 unc holes that look like a corresponding bracket could fit?

This was at least how the previous owner had fitted mine. Can't vouch for its correctness though.

Well that would explain why there isnt another bracket shown in the parts book, I was expecting something else due to there being two available holes at the back of the gearbox, will try that then, thank you.

@ dasadrew, that's a great picture. I've been looking for those holes for months. Thank you

This reminds me that when I saw how thin the metal of this bracket was, I made my own out of much thicker metal, and also attached it to both holes.

I suspect the original has a single hole to allow it to pivot, to take up manufacturing tolerances on the lengths of the downpipes from manifold to bracket. In a sense the first photo in this thread is a very exaggerated illustration of the possible movement. Obviously for a given set of pipes on a given car you can make a 2-hole fixing to suit.

I have the same sort of bracket but i can't get it to fit as the gearbox attachment is too high from the exhaust.... if i raise the exhaust it rattles on the gearbox crossmember... I'm looking at making a bespoke bracket and modifying the length of the pipes to make them align with the rear mounts ( does anyone have an old system i can buy to cut up?)

I'm looking to modify the system by
