    CV Type Propshafts

I have a slight vibration between 55 & 70 mph since converting to amanual gearbox. I replaced the prop UJsas a matter of course before fitting(probably a mistake). I can't find anyone localthat can balance the prop and by the time i've taken it 50 miles paid to have it balanced, then collected it I nearly may as well buy new.

I'm considering replacing it with the CV type that a certain large Triumph factor sells. Does anyone on here have experience of these? Are they as smooth as claimed and an improvement over the standard prop?

    Mark,

Got one fitted. Didn't cure my vibration. This has been reduced by replacing the g/box mountings with NOS genuine items bought from Chic Doig at Stoneleigh, and replacing the g/box cross-member mounting washers/bolts where it attaches to the body, taking great care to ensure they are aligned and fitted correctly.

      Thanks Dave,

I've used the poly mounting bits off the auto cross member to body, and the rubber bobbins between the cross member brackets seem good and supple.

I've watched the prop whilst rotating it, doesn't look out (but I haven't checked it with a DTI)

The vibration does seem worse under hard acceleration, so the prop rubber might not bethat good.

I'll try jubilee clips first, but it's a PITA and a bit hit and miss.
