    Leather dye

Hi all ,Its nice here isn't it ,
I think I have found some good seats but they are black leather and my interior is mid to dark blue leather so my question is can a black seat be dyed to a lighter colour? and what stuff should I use.

    Thanks Steve

Why not change the rest to black?

I did think that Dave, but there is a lot more to change ,carpets, doorcards, hood cover (can't spell the proper word),"B" posts etc so I think I will just fit the front seats for now in blue.Plus I like the blue

                  Cheers Steve

                    Hi Steve.
When I did my TomCat seats about 2 years ago, they were dark grey with red piping although they were sold as black. You could carry it off on a red car but it did not look right in my opinion on a white car. I bought an excellent black colouring kit from www.furnitureclinic .co.uk for £110, but although they say it is suitable for both leather and vinyl, it is beginning to peel on the vinyl. There is quite a bit of vinyl on the seats usually on the backs and sides. What I need now is some vinyl paint which I havn't seen for a while. If you colour your seats make sure that you get both leather and vinly paints/dies as it might be difficult to match the blue if bought seperately.

Thanks Bob ,a good point ,I was toying with leaving the plastic trim as there isnt that much and I think with darkish blue I could get away with it,But I think I will see what they do for it now.

                      Cheers Steve

The point I was trying to make Steve is that the backs and sides of your seats are probably vinyl although they might look like leather,

Hi Steve, your best bet is to talk to Woolies at Stoneleigh, or phone from their site. I really would take advice before a colour change, not the same as refreshing. Cheers, Martin.
