    Boot Lid Springs

    Hi all,

is there a method of increasing the force of the boot lid springs to avoid the opened lid is always closing when the Stag isn't parked horizontal?

    Regards

      Hi Klaus, Roger,

I have exactly the same problem and would be glad of a cure!

        Hi Klaus

Don't know how to send multiple pictures so there are three. Ours would not stop open at all and what I did was drill out the pin that holds the roller on the boot hinge, make up a larger roller that has the effect of putting more tension on the spring, job done.

            Picture 3

            A 8mm bolt x 50mm

            B Washer

            C Sleeve length 16mm O/D 11mm I/D 8mm

D Length 15mm I/D11.5mm Dia of part that goes againsthinge is up to you the bigger it is the more tension it puts on the spring mine is 16mm

The sizes are not criticle it's up to you but sleeve C needs to be a bit longer thanD so you can tighten it up and still allow D to rotate

Goodness me Roger, very detailed. The sort of detail you would expect from Jack Shaft

              Very good idea

                  Hi Roger,

Thanks for all that detail. I know this is Kluas' question but that will help me a lot too! I can't say that I can reccomend a Stag bootlid on the head!

                    Hi Brian

Have you got the facility to make your own, or know anybody who can make them for you ?

                      Hi Roger,

thanks a lot for this detailed idea--very clever. I will go this route. No more "headaches"!

PS. Have you been able to get your Stag carpets dried?

                        Hi Roger,

That's a brilliant bit of lateral thinking

When you ask "Have you got the facility to make your own" - does that suggest that you might be able to produce and sell some if anybody's interested ? - as I could be if you do

                        Cheers

                          Hi Julian

I believe this forum is to help fellow members......Cost Nothing. So I don't mind knocking up a few pairs within reason but I'm not going to do dozens if you want a pair then let me know and I will do them when I get time ie: on the days I'm not playing golf which is Tuesday Thursday and Sunday. Are you going to the restoration show at Stonleigh This Sunday ?

Yes Thanks although it took a week. It's a shame for the organisers all that hard work and it rains, still the company and food was good.
