New to the Stag world bought my car last weekend, purchased from a very pleasent SOC member it was advertised on the SOC website and collected on Monday, he has had knowledge of the car for 20 year and owned it for 10.

I nearly bought one 35 years ago but a house move meant it didn't happen.

So this is my first Stag a 1974 MK2, ex works it was Magenta but was resprayed in "BMW Silver" 20+ years ago. 20 years of documentation and dry only use of circa 4000 miles since 2008.

It needs work but is eminently driveable as is, as time and budget allows dealing with two or three area of small surface bubbling and a full respray back to a Triumph colour (if not the orginal triumph colour) is on the cards.

I believe it may well be on the orginal timing chain at 62k miles so i imagine this will be my highest prority service item? It has just been MOT'ed with no advisories. At that point will get properly underneath to check out what may be lurking under the underseal.

I have another V8 in the garage a heavily modified and updated MGB roadtser, new heritage shell with a 4ltr rover V8 and updated brakes, MX5 5 speed box, multilink rear end, LSD etc, My wifes comment when she saw the stag was "that is proper" classic car and she wants to drive it.....havent told anyone that in the MGOC

My plan is a smpathetic restoration to use as a proper grand tourer

Great drive home, it wafts beautifully and the OD worked flawlessly meaning a relaxed cruise and easily keeping station with the moderns.

Please bear with me as i am sure to be seeking insight from those with a proper technical understanding.

regard John (The G-Man that relates to my love and previous ownership of 70's G-Wagons).

    Hello All,

Having been a long term (35 years off and on) Triumph Stag owner I purchased this lovely 1974 French Blue Manual Stag last year. Our family ran a company in the 1980’s, Stagman and I have personally owned several over the years but sold them as they were good but not perfect. One such car I regret selling was a French Blue 35 years ago so I am pleased to have secured a lovely car restored by a professional restorer.

I will be making improvements and in particular engine bay detail over the coming months when time permits. Although having been full restored and uprated engine it presents in stunning condition with an original body including floor pans as left factory re-padded seats now detailed and vinyl repaired.

A 35 mile run out last bank holiday weekend brought back memories and was a delight to drive.

Hope to see you all at Club Events.

    Regards Parry Chana

I expect that you'd already noticed but the under bonnet fire extinguisher has gone off and left foam all over your driveway

Hope you have many years of enjoyment with this one.

Just recently purchased and will be my fourth Stag that I have owned, and as mentioned by someone else hopefully I have done the right thing.

As always with these things how they were described and how they actually are can be two different things. So as the faults have started to build up, so to will the work be done to ensure it remains one of the best cars ever built (and I mean that about Stag’s in general and not this car) but time will tell and hopefully this will become one of the best.

Im looking forward to speaking with other members of this wonderful club.

    Thanks for looking

    Terry

20190908_125605.jpgIMAG0567.jpgScreenshot_20200624-141228_Gallery.jpg Here is my early Stag, one of the first 500.
Owned now for seven years and to be honest I still have trouble telling myself that it really is mine.
Had a trip out last Saturday to E J Wards, never been there before, lovely weather apart from a little rain shower on the way. Greeted by many Stags upon arrival, lovely guys and very helpful.
I always wanted one in saffron, it had to be manual with overdrive and with the original triumph v8.
I could not afford to buy a really nice one so I restored this one.

Have just refitted the bonnet after an engine rebuild and I was working today when I looked up and saw the reflection. I was impressed how blue the sky even on the Java paintwork.
