    Gearbox nose extension

Taken gearbox nose extension off gearbox to replace oil seal. its the one that the release bearing sleeve slides over. I am now about to refit it but not sure which way round it goes. There is an oil hole in the gearbox casing beside the input shaft bearing at 9 oclock when looking from the clutch side, and the gasket has a cut out that aligns with this. The gearbox nose extension has a recess (oil hole) which I thought should align with this (at 9 0'clock ) hole in the gearbox casing, the workshop manual says this should go at the bottom. Am I not understanding the operation ? does this oil hole go to the bottom or the side?

I replaced mine with a longer one from Robsport . it didn't have the hole. if I recall there is a notch in the extension. I matched that up to the notch in the box. the one at either 3 O clock or 9 O clock.

In the Stag parts manual the gasket is shown at 9-oclock, also on the TR6 parts manual is shows both lined up at 9 oclock.

Thanks for the feedback. The hole aligns with the notch in the gasket at 9 o clock when looking at the front of the gearbox
