lucas made two different rotor arms for the 35*8 type of distributor fitted to rover v8 , the Triumph stag distributor and many others share these rotor arms
the shorter rotor is for the electronic ignition Lucas 35dlm8, I sourced one of these and it fitted fine.
distributor doctor in the UK is the chap I use for all of my ignition parts.
Reconditioned Lucas distributors, rebuilt Lucas distributors, recurved Lucas distributors, Distributor Doctor
everyone else that i have used for new stock seems to just sell the longer version and poorer qualityStags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

You might like to know that both of your carb covers are incorrectly fitted. There is a small 'extruson' in the casting that should line up with a similar one in the carb body.
The larger 'extrusion' on both carbs should be face the outside of the car. Easy to fix.Undo the four screws holding the cover and refit correctly but ensure the tabs on the diaphragm fit correctly - they may have been damaged by being incorrectly fitted.

Thanks JML. I didnt know this at all - but interestingly while cleaning up the exterior of the carb, I had taken the covers off. When I put them back on I noticed that 'extrusion' and thought they should be lined up.....so they are now fitted correctly :-)
I've still got to strip the carb as it was leaking, so thanks for the 'heads-up' about he potential damage to the diaphragm.....I'm now wondering if that was where I was getting the smell of petrol from, as this would make sense. It was James Bond's colour... Saffron Yellow is so cool :-)
